Safety Questions Surround Ford’s Blue Cruise After Fatal Incidents Reports

US Authorities could be giving out a stop for Ford’s Blue cruise system, this is after multiple reports of fatal accidents involving the Mustang Mach-E . The investigation was initially launched in 2024 and this could cause over 130,000 recalls of Mach-E Vehicles produced between 2021 and 2024.

This accidents involved a Mustang Mach-E and a Honda CR-V back in February 2024 became an opener for the America’s National Highways Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to open a probe. The aftermath of the incidence ended up with the 56 years old CR-V driver’s life ending up, The Mustang Mach-E occupants suffered no serious injuries and the reports illustrated that the Honda CR-V stopped in the middle of the lane of free way and non of the lights were on.

NHTSA claims that the Ford’s programed it’s adaptive cruise control used by Blue cruise and less flashy lane centering Assist ignored reported stationary object when traveling at speeds of 62 Mph (100km/h) this reducing alerts leading to deadly collision.The Ford Blue cruise System enables hands free driving on designated highways combining adaptive cruise control and lane centering Assist. This tech relie on radar and camera sensor to observe road conditions.

 In addition the system struggled with poor visibility such like driving in the nighttime or adverse weather conditions. Also there were two crashes involving other Ford models that were equipped with BlueCruise like system were narrowly avoided this is when pre collision assist features came at the last minute after primary system failed in responding.

As investigation is going through, drivers have to remain causioned while using the driver assistant features. Even though the futures are advanced neither the Blue cruise or other self driving technologies or active driver remaining critical.
